The Power of Persistence and Relationship Building in Construction
When it comes to landing projects, persistence and relationship building are key. I recently had an experience that drove this home. For years, I’ve been following up with an architect we’ve worked with in the past—sending videos, brochures, and even dropping by their office. I wasn’t getting any calls, even though they’re responsible for 30-40 homes annually.
Finally, I decided to be direct. I called them out, asked what was going on, and reminded them of our past successful projects. The very next day, I had a lead for a new project.
This experience reinforced a lesson for me: don’t be afraid to follow up persistently and advocate for yourself. In the competitive world of construction, sometimes you have to remind people of the value you bring to the table. Relationships matter, and so does a little persistence.
