I had a mentor who had the saying in life but, especially business…Be direct, specific and non punishing. The last part of it was the most important. Non punishing. There is always a way to tell someone they messed up on your job without punishing them in the process. If you’re cussing the guy out or yelling at him, you’re punishing him. As the general contractor is it your responsibility to maintain a sense of cool throughout the project, especially when your trying to correct a mistake that happened on the job. Construction can be an emotional process at time and when you are direct and specific with someone without punishing them it opens up a level of trust and accountability on your construction site which can be extremely contagious. Keep Growing.
